Pau Pathivara is one of the most important temples at Charali, Mechinagar (Jhapa). Locals believe this site is the foot (pau) of Goddess Pathivara, while the main shrine (head) is in Taplejung. Many devotees stop here to pray before making the longer pilgrimage to Pathivara Devi Temple Taplejung.
The temple is located just off the main road beside a local jungle, only a short drive from Birtamod, about 5 km away from Birtamode Jhapa. Because it is easy to reach by road, Pau Pathivara is popular with local pilgrims and families who come for both worship and peaceful visits.
Pau Pathivara is loved for its calm, roadside setting and simple shrine. Visitors come for quick darshan, small rituals, and quiet moments of prayer. The place is also used by people traveling onward toward the bigger Pathivara temples in Illam and Taplejung.

2 weeks agoMata Pathibhara Temple is located in Charali (between Mechinagar and Birtamod) of Jhapa district. This temple is considered to be a replica (branch) of the famous Pathibhara Devi Shaktipeeth in Taplejung, Nepal. According to local residents, a few decades ago, devotees living in the Charali area installed an idol of the goddess here for the elderly and infirm who could not reach Taplejung. After the installation, many devotees have had miraculous experiences, such as some being cured of their diseases, lost items being found, and wishes being fulfilled. Therefore, the locals have been reverently calling this temple as “Pathibhara of Jhapa”. Devotees believe that whoever takes the name of Mata Pathibhara with a sincere heart, his wishes will definitely be fulfilled. Mata Pathibhara of Charali is considered a symbol of strength, faith, and unity. There are also many homes that consider the goddess here as the family goddess. This Pathibhara Mata temple holds special fairs during the months of Dashain, Chaitra, and Baisakh. There is also a tradition here where devotees sacrifice goats, cows, pigeons, etc. Aarti is sung every morning and evening, which fills the entire area with devotion. The Pathibhara Mata temple in Charali has a special place in the religious pilgrimage of eastern Nepal. Those who come here consider it not just a temple, but a place of peace, faith, and miracles.
